Audio Transitions

The film series Physical Transitions (2000-01) was made during the crossover period between analogue and digital video editing. Microphones are shown being physically smashed within, or dragged across a monitor’s blank screen, capturing sounds that emphasise their own actions within the frame.

All unnecessary information is stripped away to focus attention on the shift between recording object and recorded image/sound as the microphone negotiates the surface and edges of the screen.
